This hometown barbershop cares about quality not quantity

Barber and owner Alejandro Machado has more than 10 years’ experience. He opened up his shop six years ago and recently moved to new location near Safeway on Mariposa Road, where in addition to conducting his hair magic, he carries and sells hair-care products such as pomades and gels by Gentlemen Republic.
Machado’s caters to all ages, including babies and toddlers and offers beard trims and good old fashion hot-towel shaves for adult clients.
“My baby boy isn't the easiest baby to deal with when it comes to cutting his hair, but here at Machado’s, (Alejandro) has the upmost patience with my 2-year-old and tries to make his experience a lot less stressful,” said one mom on the shop’s Facebook reviews, where he boasts a near-perfect rating.
Another Facebook fan said this about this homeboy, “Native of Nogales! And I am proud to have a barbershop like this one!”
This super sanitary and clean shop is family friendly. In fact, Alejandro has been known to turn the TV on to a kiddie show or two to entertain children in his shop even while adults are waig in the queue.
One has to appreciate the effort that is obviously put in to maintain a good vibe. From the moment you set foot inside the door, customers are struck by the friendly and relaxing atmosphere. You can even enjoy a complimentary cold water bole while you wait. His slogan is, “Quality over quantity.”
Alejandro recalls that he “started out at a small location across the street from Food City. I’ve always wanted a bigger barbershop.” And in May, that’s what he got thanks to the “help and support of my family, my friends, my wife, Chelsea, and our beautiful son, Zayid.”
